Story on Jefferson Davis' Hometown Features Perspective of HSU VP

A recent Louisville Courier Journal article looking at the communities of Todd County, Kentucky, the place where Confederate President Jefferson Davis was born and still has a park and towering 351-foot obelisk dedicated to him, includes the perspective of Humboldt State University Vice President of Enrollment Jason Meriwether, who grew up there.

Meriwether, who is just finishing his first year at the Arcata campus, is featured prominently in the story, which also ran on the website of USA Today, including his memory of skipping a middle school field trip because he refused to visit that park with its monument to a man who led the side fighting to preserve slavery during the Civil War.
