I write in support of Victor Garcia for Ward One in Eureka and Kim Bergel as Eureka’s mayor. Both candidates bring ample experience and understand the jobs, opportunities and limitations of these roles. Victor has hands-on local government experience and a strong background in political engagement. He’s focused on issues of affordability, community togetherness, healthcare, and more. I know Victor will hit the ground running and be a caring, involved leader in Eureka. Kim is a known entity — who can miss her presence supporting so many good things in Humboldt? The mayor’s role is to be a figurehead for the city and facilitate productive meetings. Kim has also led an important mayoral mental and behavioral health initiative. She listens and is receptive, even when she might not agree fully — something I greatly admire. We are lucky to have both Victor and Kim running!
