I was driving on S HWY 101 just south of Rio Dell. I was thinking that the sky was looking ominous as I drove across the bridge when the concrete started rippling and waving. At first, I thought “Oh s**t, it’s a tornado because I had been thinking about the weather and the wind was up. But I quickly realized the bridge was heaving with an earthquake. Then my cell began an emergency alert shrieking and I jammed on the gas to get off of that bridge! I swear I thought my life was ending right then. I took the next off ramp and read my phone which advised me to drop hold and take cover. How the heck do you do that in a car? With redwoods all around.
This is just the start…
You can’t expect billions of tons of glacier-melt on top of the Cascadia subduction zone to have no impact.
