SECOND UPDATE:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has given the all-clear at the scene.

UPDATE:

One building at Third and L streets, near where a suspicous device was found in Eureka, has been evacuated as a “safety precaution,” according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

The device, according to a tweet, was located in the parking lot next to the building. Occupants of two other buildings in the area have been advised to shelter in place, HCSO states.

PREVIOUS:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office’s explosive ordnance team is investigating a suspicious device found at Fourth and K streets in Eureka.

The public is asked to avoid the area but U.S. Highway 101 remains open as of 8:45 a.m.
