What gives HSU professor Stephens the right to decide what’s “hate speech” and what isn’t? (“Mapping #Hate,” Blog Jammin’, May 16.) I can well imagine what to her is hate speech is what others would call being politically incorrect. And how did she decide which parts of the country are more hateful than others? I have the sneaking suspicion that the parts with the large red blotches are the same ones that voted for someone other than Obama.

  1. The tiresome complaint about “political correctness,” usually comes from people who don’t have the courage of their convictions. If you think that your bigoted thoughts need to be heard, by all means, have some guts and say them.

  2. I love it when statistics and research are challenged, but when words like, “I can well imagine”, and, “sneaking suspicion”, are used, it makes it really funny. There is no way that challenge could be taken seriously.
