8/31 BIG UPDATE!: After several generous but less than ideal offers to play at non-Eureka venues or in people’s backyards, The Lil’ Red Lion — the-bar-we-all-kinda-knew-they-should-play-at-anyway — has stepped into the hero role. Eureka California will play Monday, Sept. 5 at, you know, the time bands play in bars.
Dream realized.
8/26: Attention, local music venue stewards!
I’ll try not to confuse you, but you’ll need to follow close. Eureka California, a band hailing from Athens, Georgia, is currently on tour and is looking for a place to play in Eureka Monday, Sept. 5.
Did you get that?
Eureka California is currently without a place to play in Eureka, California. Take a sec if you need to.
They’d likely be open to playing in Arcata, but I dunno if that’s a good idea — conceivably, that could make clocks run backwards and dogs and cats get along, or something.
Anyway, do the right thing. Let ’em in.
UPDATE: I tracked down a track. This is what Eureka California sounds like, Eureka, California.
This article appears in Whose Arcata?.

if they are looking to play on Aug 5th., I will need to check the status of my Flux Capacitor…
how bout Blue Lake…that way nobody gets hurt
Fixed, Greg! Keep that Flux Capacitor warm though.
This coming Monday is the 29th of August. Just sayin’.
Strike two, 06em.
Seems odd a band would come to a town to play without some idea of where they’d be playing.
As a former Athenian and now Eurekan, I can vouch that any bands coming from the Classic City music scene are top shelf. Not only that, many of them have unexplained cognitive powers. How else could one explain the album cover art above, other than a prescient prediction about our dear departed Klamath Whale?
Have you checked into the Eureka Theater. They are book these sort of performances .http://www.eurekatheater.org/
HOW ABOUT THE ALIBI?
City Hall?
By the way they sound, they should play The Shanty, perfect for poser, emocidal, faux art, boring crap.
The Eureka Alibi is closed unfortunately. Best bet at this point would be the Little Red Lion. & @ “Robster Craw”, wow seriously grumpy pants…what, no one pay enough attention to YOUR band or something?!
Well the Arcata airport is in McKinleyville and the statue of McKinley is in Arcata, so clearly these guys are supposed to play Rio Dell or Scotia.
Wel, I didn’t like the track but based on their excellent poster they can set up in my back yard. Until the neighbors complain.
Julie, is that a serious offer? If so, email us!
Done! Say tuned.
UPDATE: as of 10:45 this morning, they’re still looking for a venue, my place the last resort. Any ideas, email them at the link above. It would be tragic if Eureka California couldn’t play in Eureka, California.. .
How would one contact them . . . except through public forums?
them = eurekacaliforniaband@gmail.com
Susan, can Eureka, CA play the Fieldbrook market? That would satisfy Omnomnonimous, I think!
PROBLEM SOLVED! They’ll be at the Little Red Lion the night of the 5th. Details to follow. I’m helping them with a press release.
Excellent!
Why wasn’t KSLG involved in anyway? You know – John Matthew’s? Overlooked?
The band hasn’t been real good about keeping in touch and never gave me enough info to pass along to KSLG or any other media but they just informed me again that they WILL be at LRL tomorrow night. That’s all I know.
Sorry yall, it is indeed hard to keep in touch on the road with no internet access. But yes, we will be there. Tonight!
So, why did they name themselves Eureka California?
