Staff got up early to distribute the program (thankfully no rain) for the Cal Poly Humboldt Class of 2023 commencement for the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences that began at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, in Redwood Bowl. -
Following the traditional entrance by the mace bearer, CPH faculty and administrators and other platform members, students from majors in the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences made their way to their seats in Redwood Bowl. -
Family members of Communication major Sam Schulman made the drive up from Long Beach to help celebrate his graduation. -
Friends of Sociology major Mikenzy Frye, of Redding, brought this array of balloons to help celebrate. -

Steffi Puerto, a double major in journalism and critical race, gender and sexuality studies, was recognized as one of the two overall Outstanding Students of the Year for 2022-2023. -

Fifteen Black students were part of the Black Cultural Graduation Ceremony on Friday that featured the singing of the Black National Anthem led by Andrea Stuckey, of Eureka, a keynote address (see next photo) and a presentation of the graduates with their symbolic regalia stoles (pictured is Micaiah Bessellieu, a Liberal Studies Elementary Education major). -
The Black Cultural Graduation Ceremony on Friday featured a keynote address by CPH alumna Janaee Sykes (’21), of Arcata. She now works as an academic adviser at CPH. -

Twenty-one students were part of the Asian, Desi, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern & North African Cultural Graduation Ceremony on Friday that featured a keynote address by CPH Environmental Studies professor Deepti Chatti, a presentation of the graduates with their symbolic graduation stoles and leis, and a concluding dance and drum performance by Humboldt Taiko. -
