More than 20,400 ballots from the June 7 election remain to be counted, including 19,962 mail-ins, according to the county Elections Office.

While the die appears to be be cast in several races, including Cheryl Dillingham’s apparent victory to become the county’s next auditor-controller, Stacey Eads’ in the district attorney’s race, incumbent Steve Madrone’s in the Fifth District race for supervisor and Steven Steward’s bid for a judgeship, others remain in the balance.

That includes whether there will be a runoff between Natalie Arroyo and Mike Newman for the Fourth District seat. (Find the Journal’s Election Night coverage here.)

According to a news release, the Elections Office will continue to post results every Friday leading up the election’s July 7 certification.

“All valid vote-by-mail ballots will be counted regardless of the outcome or closeness of any race if they are postmarked by Tuesday, June 7 and arrive by Tuesday, June 14,” the release states.

The Elections Office also notes that votes may subscribe to “WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov to track their ballots, receive personalized text messages, emails or voicemails letting them know when their ballot is mailed, received, and counted by the Registrar of Voters.
