Public Health Reports HumCo's 137th COVID Death

Humboldt County Public Health reported the 137th local COVID-19 death today — of a resident over the age of 80.
This marks the county's 15th COVID-19 death of 2022.
Public Health also reported two new hospitalizations today. According to a state database, 23 people are currently hospitalized with the virus locally, including one under intensive care.
Last week, Humboldt County Health Officer Ian Hoffman followed the state's lead and allowed an order mandating everyone wear masks in indoor public spaces expire for fully vaccinated people. Read more about that decision in this week's cover story here.
