Body Found in Blue Lake Identified, Determined Homicide

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office has identified the body found near Hatchery Road in Blue Lake on Sept. 11, as 65-year-old Blue Lake resident Eugene Steven Segal.

Segal's death has been deemed a homicide after an autopsy revealed his cause of death to be blunt force trauma and stab wounds.

The investigation is ongoing and the Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information about this case to call 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 268-2539.

The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has identified the remains recovered Sept. 11, 2021, near Hatchery Road in Blue Lake as 65-year-old Eugene Steven Segal of Blue Lake.

An autopsy of Segal was conducted, and his cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma and stab wounds. Segal’s manner of death has been determined to be homicide.
