The state-assigned SnapNurse team has joined Humboldt County Public Health's mobile vaccine efforts to deliver vaccines to those who are unable to travel due to distance, transportation, mobility issues, language barriers or busy work and family schedules.

“Our mobile efforts are breaking down barriers to vaccine access and meeting people where they’re at, one clinic at a time,” said Sofia Pereira, operations chief for the Humboldt County Emergency Operations Center. “The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the barriers that affect health outcomes in our community.”

The release states that the SnapNurse team arrived earlier this month and is expected to provide services to residents in both English and Spanish through early August. At no cost to the county, the state has provided three registered nurses, an emergency medical technician and a fully equipped vaccination clinic on wheels.

The SnapNurse mobile clinics will be stationed throughout the county at mobile home parks, community centers, family resource centers, schools, churches, farmers’ markets and even baseball games.

The county's mobile vaccine clinic has been vaccinating homebound residents for more than a month now through referrals on the MyTurn website and the county's Joint Information Center, going as far as Petrolia to vaccinate residents.

The SnapNurse team aided the county's ongoing efforts to reach residents in outlying parts of the county, including Redcrest, Bridgeville, and Petrolia.

Mobile vaccination clinics are open for walk-ins or residents may register in advance through MyTurn.ca.gov, which also includes an option for homebound residents to register for a home appointment. For assistance, contact My Turn at 833-422-4255.

June 24, 2021 - SnapNurse Team Builds on County’s Mobile Vaccination Efforts

Humboldt County vaccination clinics have gone mobile to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to the people who need them, meeting people where they live, work and socialize. Here to support the efforts of Public Health and other approved local vaccinators is a state-assigned SnapNurse team.

At no cost to the county, the State of California has provided three registered nurses, an emergency medical technician and a fully equipped vaccination clinic on wheels. The SnapNurse team arrived in Humboldt June 10, and is expected to provide services to local residents in both English and Spanish through early August.

Around the county, mobile vaccination units may be spotted in mobile home parks, community centers, family resource centers, schools, churches, farmers’ markets and even baseball games.

The SnapNurse team joins a host of mobile vaccination efforts in the county. The Humboldt County Public Health mobile unit has been vaccinating homebound residents for more than a month, through referrals from MyTurn.ca.gov and the Humboldt County Joint Information Center. The county’s mobile unit has also set up twice so far in Petrolia, where rural residents sometimes drive nearly an hour just to reach the general store. Other efforts include those of the North Coast Testing Partnership and Open Door Community Health Centers.

After a successful first week vaccinating people at the Samoa Women’s Club and other sites around Eureka, the SnapNurse unit this week began to build on the county’s ongoing efforts to reach residents in outlying parts of the county, including Redcrest, Bridgeville and Petrolia.
