Sheriff's Office Conducting Homicide Investigation into Death of Man Dropped Off at Cal Fire Station

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation after a gunshot victim was dropped off at the Elk Camp Cal Fire station near Orrick yesterday evening.
Although Cal Fire employees administered living-saving efforts, the man died at the scene, the HCSO states in a news release.
According to the release, the man was driven to the station around 6 p.m. and left there by "mulitiple unknown individuals. " His name has not been released and the case remains under investigation.

On June 23, 2021, at about 6 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Elk Camp CAL FIRE Station on Bald Hills Road near Orick for the report of a gunshot victim. According to CAL FIRE employees, a male gunshot victim was brought to the station in a vehicle occupied by multiple unknown individuals. The victim was dropped off at the station and the vehicle left. Despite life-saving efforts administered by CAL FIRE employees, the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene.
This case is being investigated as a homicide by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division. This is an ongoing investigation. Information will be released as available and appropriate.
