North Coast Rep. Jared Huffman says Congress will not be intimidated by a mob of pro-Trump rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol today, leaving at least one person dead, and will finish their duty to certify Joe Biden’s election.
He also tweeted that he and his staff were safe after being placed on lockdown.

North Coast Congressmember Jared Huffman voices appreciation to those "struggling to protect us from a violent coup" while under lockdown at the U.S. Capitol but asks why there was not a greater response.

The D.C. National Guard has since been deployed.

Huffman is calling for the criminal prosecution of the president for sedition, saying “this has gone too far” as Trump protestors storm the U.S. Capitol as the certification of Joe Biden’s election was being debated on the Senate floor. He is under lock down.
The rioters marched to the Capitol at the president's urging after he addressed the crowd near the White House, saying, “We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn’t happen,” according to reports in the New York Times, which has ongoing updates of the increasingly tense situation here

Members of Congress are being evacuated.
Earlier, Huffman described the scene before the Capitol was breached, "the Trump mob is screaming and chanting, sirens are blaring everywhere and there are lots of explosion sounds, which I assume is gas grenades."
