Man Rescued After Being Stuck in Bay Mud

A man was rescued just after 6 p.m. today after becoming stuck in the mud in Humboldt Bay near Hilfiker Lane off Broadway in Eureka. He declined medical treatment, according to the incident commander.
The call came in about 5:55 p.m. The Coast Guard, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Humboldt Bay Fire Department were requested to respond to the scene.
Water resources including the Coast Guard and the sheriff’s office boat were requested to cancel after HBF responded to dig the man out.
