Fog and smoky conditions have delayed today’s COVID-19 testing at Redwood Acres.
According to a news release, OptumServe notified the county’s Office of Emergency Services this morning to say the airplane carrying its staff had been delayed.
An employee is at the Eureka site to inform anyone arriving for their test and the county was told individuals will be contacted to be rescheduled. The hope is that testing can resume after the lunch hour.

A plane carrying OptumServe staff was delayed this morning by fog and smoke—no surprise to anyone who has ever tried to fly in or out of the Arcata-Eureka Airport this time of year. Last we heard, the plane was in Medford, Ore., and staff are hopeful they’ll be able to open for testing after lunch.
OptumServe notified the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center this morning that testing at the Redwood Acres test site would be delayed. OptumServe also said that clients impacted by the delay will be contacted to reschedule. There is an OptumServe employee on site currently notifying people of the delay.
