As this three-day holiday won’t be like any other in recent memory, the county of Humboldt is reminding residents that COVID-19 precautions apply when they are out enjoying the region’s parks, beaches and trails.

Those include social distancing practices, wearing facial coverings and refraining from gathering in groups.

All parks and trails operated by Humboldt County will be open for day-use over Memorial Day weekend, except for Freshwater Park, a news release states, but camping continues to be prohibited pending “further guidance from the state of California.”

The release notes that “travel from out of Humboldt County is strongly discouraged" and warns that rivers are running fast and cold.

Read the full release here  for further details and additional safety guidelines.
