A strong area of low pressure is expected to bring very strong winds to northwest California Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. Initially these winds will be southerly, but the will quickly become westerly and then northwest as the low moves inland. The exact track of the low is not yet certain and a small change in the track could lead to a stronger or weaker winds than currently forecast.Memo from the Humboldt County Public Works Roads Dispatcher:
A strong storm system is expected to bring rain and mountain snow starting Tuesday afternoon. The heaviest precipitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening. Showers will continue through Wednesday, although they will be much lighter and will taper off in the evening. Confidence is not particularly high with this forecast so continue to monitor the forecast as it gets closer. If you are driving, be prepared and carry chains. Changes travel plans if possible to avoid the snow when driving. For details on your location visit www.weather.gov/eka and search for your location.
There is a threat of hail Tuesday night and Wednesday with widespread showers over Northwest California. The best chances for hail showers will be early Wednesday morning. Small hail can quickly accumulate on the road resulting in very slick conditions. If you find yourself driving on a hail covered road, remember to slow down by easing off the gas pedal. Do NOT slam on the brakes and try to avoid overcorrecting as you could lose control of your vehicle.
Centerville Road at Centerville Beach could possibly close due to high surf between Tuesday, November 26th mid-day through Wednesday morning, November 27th.
