A flood watch for Southern Humboldt is in effect from late Thursday through Saturday morning as the region settles in for another round of rain that is expected to last through the weekend.

The National Weather Service flood watch primarily refers to small streams overrunning their banks but also states that there “is a slight chance for main stem river flooding, stay tuned to the forecast.” The storm is coming from the region of Hawaii, as indicated by NWS' adorable pineapple graphic.

The service also reports that “rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are expected, with local amounts up to 7 inches possible along windward facing slopes.”

Flood watch from the National Weather Service:
A strong atmospheric river will bring wet weather to the area. Rain has started to spread across the area this afternoon. This will continue through early Saturday morning. The heaviest rain is expected Friday night. There is a slight chance for main stem river flooding, stay tuned to the forecast.
