With Humboldt County Public Health having announced a push to get 75 percent of the eligible population vaccinated ahead of June 15, when the state plans to drop a host of COVID-19 restrictions, the Journal wants to hear from you, our readers.

If you’re vaccinated, why did you decide to get the shot? How’d it go? What feels different in your post-vaccinated life? What have you done that you couldn’t or didn’t do before? How’d it feel? And if you have a picture of yourself getting vaccinated, we’d love that, too. (Or maybe a picture of a post-vaccination event or reunion?) Please send responses to editor@northcoastjournal.com with “vaxed” in the subject line. Or, simply share your thoughts in the comment section below.

If you aren’t vaccinated, please tell us why. If there are barriers — transportation, economic, employment — explain what they are. If you have questions, pass them along and we’ll do what we can to find answers.

Thadeus Greenson is the news editor of the North Coast Journal.

  1. Well; the reason is that I have Lupus, and many other autoimmune syndromes. I got the Pfizer shot, and I immediately had a bad reaction. Chills, body aches, etc. However I now feel like I am covered.

  2. I had my vaccine few months ago,
    No problemas at all,
I feel so Blessed to have done that
I hope everyone will have the vaccine so life would be easier

  3. At first I was a little hesitant to get an unapproved vaccine, but I really wanted to get our community moving forward to a new normal. I decided to get the Pfizer shot. After the vaccination, I felt very tired and had a sore arm. But that didn’t last long. About a week after, I felt a huge sense of relief and new found courage to go out to eat, and hug other people! I also could start going to classes again! I’m so grateful and am glad I got my Covid-19 vaccine!

  4. No “Frontline vaccination” for me (mid 50’s white male). I’m happy to see/hear/read about others who are getting one of the experimental vaccinations not approved by the FDA (authorized but not approved). You are truly the “essential workers” in this scandemic. Hopefully most if not all of you will be okay.

The so called coincidental deaths, lingering side effects and questionable/arbitrary benefits of any of these experimental vaccinations is not very encouraging (not swaying me to run out and join the club).

I’ll personally take my chances with this scandemic virus. Oh, I seldom wear a mask or wash my hands and still do not know anyone who has personally tested positive for this scandemic virus or contracted/became ill (died) from this scandemic either.

In other words, I have not been overwhelmingly convinced to get an experimental vaccination(s). However as I’ve stated, I’m very happy to see that others are willing to subject themselves to this experiment so that I don’t have to.

So, thanks a bunch for getting the “Frontline vaccination.”. Please keep us posted. You’re now part of the grand experiment and in a sense owe everyone (not just scientists or virologists) data/feedback. Good luck. God speed.

  5. It is a plandemic. Fauci is the biggest liar of all, second is Biden. I feel bad for this entire world. You have been scammed, duped, mentally manipulated is the most diabolical plot from those “on high”. The civil war ensueing in the aftermath is just as sad as the vaccine itself. Praying for all of you, may God be with you and your families. Seek the truth. You will not find it on mainstream media, and it does you no good to argue with those who knew the truth before you do. We need a unified front going forward. Do not get your children vaccinated, PLEASE.

  6. I care for elderly folks within the family, and a few of my younger-generation family is immunocompromised, so knowing that we’d like to return to family dinners and hangout times, I refused to be the selfish jerk that would spread something to them that would most likely kill them.

It’s part of the responsibility I took on by caring for my family, both immediate and extended.

  7. I ended up getting the Moderna shots. First was fine and second I was achey and had chills for a day. Much better than the actual virus. I did it because I typically will catch anything going around and I wanted to protect myself, my family, and friends. Not to mention getting it for all those who have compromised immune systems in Humboldt. I get peoples hesitation but I’m community minded. I’m out for the “we” and not “me.” The fact people are still calling this a scam is ridiculous. Our government can barely pass simple laws let alone pull off a conspiracy job that involves the entire world lol. You give them far too much credit.
