A gray Ram pickup traveling on Hwy 101 hit the embankment and overturned on Hwy 101 near mile marker 18 by Hooker Creek between Redway and Phillipsville just after 2 p.m.

An ambulance is responding to the scene. Both north and southbound traffic is moving slowly through the area, according to Caltrans QuickMap. ( Note: Information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.)

UPDATE 2:17 p.m.: Both northbound lanes are blocked, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. One male adult has a head injury.

UPDATE 2:30: The whole northbound is still backed up. An Air ambulance has been requested but the smoke is so bad CHP air can’t respond.

UPDATE 3:08 p.m.: The driver is being taken by ground ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka. One way traffic control is in effect.
