Anger. Vindication. Fear. Hope. Despair. A flood of emotion has washed over the country in the wake of Donald J. Trump’s stunning Nov. 8 upset to become the president-elect following one of the most divisive presidential contests in generations. In the face of this historic event, and the turmoil that’s followed, we want to hear from you, Humboldt. Or, more accurately, we want the president-elect to hear from you. So we’re asking readers to send us letters of 45 words or less addressed to the incoming 45th president of the United States. Send submission to letters@northcoastjournal.com by 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14.

I don’t understand why people are protesting the president-elect Trump in a free country. America has always been a free country. Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, etc. have always gotten along together and accepted the outcome of past elections. Did the anti-Obama voters go out and protest in the streets when he was elected? Why are these liberal, “peace-loving” Hillary supporters (who have “Co-exist” bumperstickers on their cars) committing violence and dissension in the streets? I know that George Soros is paying people to protest, but other than that where is all of this dissension coming from? Is it coming from the damage that “Political Correctness” has caused? – Political Correctness is an un-American concept. There is no one correct political opinion to have, except for what comes from our Creator. That’s why we have all these different political parties in America.
