NPR Does Arcata Pot Scene: You had your “Pot City: USA” — now the dulcet-toned National Public Radio is set to do its piece on medical Mary J.

The story is set to air on the afternoon news magazine Small Things Considered tonight after 5 p.m.; here’s some text to go along with it. NPR airs locally on public radio station KHSU, 90.5 FM.

  1. Crap…NPR has no advertisers. How do we say goodbye to them? Boycott underwriters? The biggest one, I’ve heard, is listeners like me (and plenty of others in this community). NPR is "threatening the existence of our local culture," just like the Eye, yet our local culture supports NPR. Robo? A little help?

  2. And yet another news organization makes Humboldt even more famous for pot. Amazing to think that once I read an article in the North Coast Journal reporting on some group that is trying to discredit Humboldt as pot central. I’m thinking, "oh yeah that’s going to happen. Because if there is one thing this county is certainly not known across the world for, it’s OUR POT!"
