Blue Lake voting.
The ability to vote in Blue Lake city limits was problematic. The Post Office (mail in ballots) was the only way to vote on Election Day. That means you have to get it in by 5pm to get it postmarked correctly. Murphys Markets drop box is 2 miles out of town. With an election that features a city council race, shouldn’t a voting center be in town?
Humboldt County Registrar of Voters Juan Pablo Cervantes brags about having all paid election workers. But in doing so, he closed “under performing” voting centers like Blue Lake’s, (Saving money). Having an election run like a business is not Okay. And poorly informing Blue Lake voters of the change is truly unconscionable.
