Utah’s Unquiet Dust

(March 4, 2010)  Editor:

“Go to sleep you weary hobo” … verse by Utah Phillips (“A Gentleman Wanderer,” Feb. 25)? That’s not only a glaring error — it verges on heresy. Utah will be squirming in his grave — or more likely, his ashes will be turning over in their universe — until the Journal corrects itself.

It’s so much easier and more fun to take pot shots at you guys than to actually write something.

Alan Sanborn, Arcata

Editor’s note: We deeply regret the bestirring of Utah’s ashes. “Hobo’s Lullaby,” popularized by Woody and Arlo Guthrie — and, yes, Utah Phillips — was written by Goebel Reeves.
