Check out this awesome YouTube video someone just sent us. It’s from KIEM’s live coverage of election night two years ago, when Mike Newman won the third ward seat on Eureka’s city council. The clip shows him in a, um, jubilant mood as he attempts to articulate his plans for the city. It has something to do with business, we think.
This article appears in Election 2012.

A youtube video from two years ago……wow cutting edge.
Yeah, two years old. Still hilarious.
KIEM 3…and most local media, either refrain from asking difficult questions, or directly feed the correct right-wing propaganda to the developer-backed candidates….always favored to win with few exceptions.
To do otherwise would be “advocacy journalism”.
HA!
Guarded optimism….with my daughter.
Huh?
Brian Connors, PL causality
I miss Leslie Lambert
No, really!
Beverly obviously pours a stiff cocktail
Mike Newman, king of the articulate councilmen!
How did this clown get elected in the first place? Shows how messed up and misled the voters of Eureka are.
Newman got elected like all the rest…the development community picks an average right-wing schmo and outspends all opposition.
The liberal community, like any repressed group, feels it must over-compensate and will not coalesce behind an average liberal schmo.
The liberal community complained that Cheryl Seidner entered the supervisor race too late….few volunteered.
Joe Bonino filed late and nearly beat an incumbent!
Saw that report live two years ago and laughed out loud then. Laughed outloud again. Where’s the seltzer bottle spray down the pants when you really need it?
Joe Bonino truly deserved the political cream pie to the face, Calling himself a “job creator” as a state employee payroll man? And all the players echoed that horse dung. Plus, he was against Prop 30..as a state employee who is the beneficiary of the incredible state benefits. Talk about biting the hand that feeds him.
I hope he fades back into the faded wallpaper of his played out mind…oh, and he dug Prop.8 too? Would’ve made a great leader of the psychophant brigade.
Not that bloggers have any interest in being fair or truthful, but Newman’s interview was at the end of a very long day and he was tired.
Bonino also owned a small business in the past.
But ignore the facts and flame on.
Oh yes, Joe had a bed and breakfast…no workers but he and wife….Don’t you think a state worker with the Cadillac benefits is a little hypocritical to be against Prop 30…it’s I got mine and fug off you poor suckers who want into the system…but flame on Befair and watch out for flatulence that will lift you off and send you up to Orick…
Interesting clip. I just wish Mr. Newman could be a bit more pro-business. Then Eureka would zoom forward.
So the big story is that Newman got pretty lit on election night, but it still doesn’t answer the question of who pooped and peed on the bank.
