Pot pioneers: The San Francisco Bay Guardian profiles two simultaneous efforts to Legalize It! in California — a ballot initiative, led by those studious stoners at Oaksterdam University, and Assembly Bill 390, introduced by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, who’s been exchanging sweet nothings with Governor Schwarzenegger of late. A heads-up to the local Chamber of Commerce: Oak-town appears to be eyeballing Humboldt County’s own legalization contingency plan. OU cofounder Richard Lee “says his ultimate goal is to place Oakland on the map as a West Coast version of Amsterdam.” Hmm. Maybe we can be the West Coast’s Freetown Christiana?

Home Depot? forget it! We can have Home de Pot in the Marina Center: think of the resinous aromas from the marijuana cafes on every corner, live music, street art. It could become a permanent forty three acre festival site, open 24/7/365.
