The Rotary Club of Eureka has awarded a $1,000 grant to the U.S. Amateur Rafting Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to launching and supporting amateur whitewater rafting teams. The funds will directly benefit the Redwood Rafters, a youth team of sixteen paddlers ages 11-16 from Humboldt County, California, who have been training together since January 2023. Grant funds will be used toward the purchase of a vehicle to transport the team and trailer the rafts, allowing the team and its equipment to travel together for practices and competitions.
“We’re lucky to live in an area with access to six incredible rivers.” Said Dale Warmuth, President of the Rotary Club of Eureka. “By supporting the Redwood Rafters, we want to encourage young people to get out on the water, learn to stay safe, have fun and pick up new skills.”
Local organizations are encouraged to apply for support through the Rotary Club of Eureka’s Small Grants Program. The next application deadline is March 31, 2026.
