The Lost Coast Tourism Association invites the community to gather, watch, and celebrate local storytelling during the 2nd Annual Lost Coast Film Festival, with free weekly film screenings held throughout February and a Grand Finale in early March.
The contest showcases original, family-friendly short films created by filmmakers of all ages — from elementary school students to college filmmakers and adults — highlighting creativity, inclusivity, and the unique voices of the Lost Coast. Films are screened at rotating local venues, giving each filmmaker a chance to share their work with the community.
“The Lost Coast Film Contest is really about bringing people together,” said Julie Peacock. “Last year showed us how meaningful it can be to gather in February, watch films created by people who live here, and celebrate local creativity. It’s grassroots, it’s joyful, and it feels like the start of a really beautiful community tradition.”
The 2026 Lost Coast Film Contest was made possible in large part through the efforts of Caleb McCarthy, a member of the Cal Poly Cinema Club, whose dedication and leadership helped bring this year’s event together. From coordinating submissions to supporting young filmmakers, McCarthy played a key role in carrying forward the momentum from last year and ensuring the contest continues to grow as a welcoming, community-centered celebration of local film.
