Humboldt Sponsors, a local nonprofit charitable organization dedicated solely to raising funds to benefit Humboldt County youth, held its biggest fundraiser of the year, “Boots & Bandanas,” Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026 at The Barn by Fernbridge.
“It was truly a wonderful evening! We had a very generous group of 175 people who were all there to support the kids of Humboldt,” stated Dana Hunt, co-chair. “The Barn by Fernbridge was the perfect setting for our western theme again this year, combined with a delicious barbecue dinner by Dorris & Daughter Catering, along with grill master Pete Bussman.”
The annual summer fundraiser also featured a no-host bar provided by Native Sons of the Golden West, a live auction featuring Rex Bohn as auctioneer, a silent auction, a benefit raffle drawing, a wine pull, and music by Luke Powell, as well as Travisty Entertainment’s sound system. Guests also enjoyed a photo booth provided by Sandi Petersen Photography.
“We are so thrilled and grateful to report that our Boots & Bandanas event raised more than $50,000, after expenses, all for local kids,” said Becky Giacomini, co-chair. “We appreciate each and every one of our friends, families, business and community supporters, as well as our Humboldt Sponsors members, for their generous contributions.”
Since 1971, Humboldt Sponsors has distributed more than $3,144,400 in grant funds to local youth-related nonprofits, surpassing its three million milestone last year. In April, the organization awarded 91 individual grants, totaling more than $104,400.
“We are proud of the fact that all net proceeds from our fundraisers stay local and go directly into our Grant Fund to benefit the youth of Humboldt County,” said Amy Hunt, president of Humboldt Sponsors. “It takes a big village and a lot of hard work to achieve this level of service to our community. Thank you for helping us in our efforts to ‘make good things happen for local kids!’”
