Humboldt County practitioner and software developer Alfred Laggner has launched Practiq, a web-based practice-management platform created for independent healthcare practitioners and small clinics.
Laggner developed Practiq after experiencing the administrative demands that small practices face — from scheduling and patient forms to clinical notes, checkout, and follow-up. Combining his experience as an acupressure practitioner with his background in software development, he set out to create a system that supports the natural workflow of a practitioner without overwhelming the user.
“Independent practitioners enter healthcare because they want to help people, but they can quickly find themselves spending a large part of the day managing disconnected administrative tasks,” Laggner said. “I created Practiq to bring those tasks together in a calmer, more practical workflow.”
Practiq was initially designed around acupuncture, Five Element, traditional Chinese medicine, and integrative-health workflows. It can also support other small healthcare and wellness practices.
The platform brings together appointment management, patient forms, visit notes, checkout, and follow-up. Practitioners can begin with a simple visit-note workflow or use more structured documentation when needed. Its guiding principle is: “Write naturally first. Structure later.”
Practiq’s Starter plan is permanently free, requires no credit card, and is intended to be genuinely useful for a working independent practice. Optional paid plans and personal setup services are available for practices that need additional capabilities or hands-on assistance.
Although Practiq is available to independent practices throughout the United States, it began in Humboldt County. Laggner is now inviting local practitioners to try the platform, provide feedback, and help influence its continuing development.
“I would especially like to hear from Humboldt practitioners,” Laggner said. “Building Practiq locally gives me the opportunity to listen directly to the people doing this work and improve it around the realities of independent practice.”
