The Benbow Historic Inn invites the community to celebrate its 100th Anniversary on Saturday, August 1st at 3pm for the Benbow Centennial White Party, an elegant event starting on the Inn’s historic back lawn. Guests are encouraged to dress in white for a festive Great Gatsby themed celebration featuring classic lawn games, live music, special fanfare, a plated dinner served on the terrace, and dancing through the decades.
Saturday’s party is the signature event of Benbow’s Centennial Celebration and offers guests a unique opportunity to become part of the Inn’s history as it begins its next century. As the Inn begins its second century, owners Jill, Polly, and Sally Macdonald are honoring Benbow’s rich history while investing in its future. Most recently, the Inn completed the installation of an innovative Combined Heat and Power (CHP) energy system that improves efficiency and sustainability while preserving the historic character of the nearly century-old property. “The Benbow Inn’s commitment to exceptional hospitality, historic preservation, and community leadership has helped shape the identity of Southern Humboldt while welcoming visitors from around the world,” said Yvonne Hendrix, Executive Director of the Southern Humboldt Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center. “As our region’s most iconic historic destination, the Inn’s legacy has strengthened local tourism, inspired economic vitality, and created lasting memories for countless guests over the past century.”
Designed by renowned architect Albert Farr and commissioned by the Benbow family as the centerpiece of their resort community, the Inn quickly became a destination for travelers along the newly completed Redwood Highway. The Centennial Celebration honors that rich and remarkable past, but also looks forward to a vibrant future, continuing a legacy of hospitality and community for generations to come.
