The Discovery Museum has found a permanent home. A few weeks after finding temporary digs in the Jefferson School on B Street, the kid-friendly learny zone announced it will move into a space at 612 G Street (the former Back in Action building, between Sixth and Seventh streets) in spring 2015.

The museum had to vacate its Carson Block home to allow the building's owner to begin seismic retrofitting in November. The current program schedule can be found on the museum's website and Facebook pages — see the press release below.

The Redwood Discovery Museum’s Christmas wish has come true with the help of Kramer Investment Corporation.

We are pleased to share the good news that, in Spring 2015, the Discovery Museum will reopen at 612 G Street in Eureka with a multi-year lease agreement. This new space will allow us to bring back old favorites along with new exhibits and programs for the children of Humboldt County.

The Kramer-owned property is nearly as large as our previous space, and its configuration will allow us to use the space more effectively. It also has much more parking and better visibility from the road. Renovations are now underway, and include new paint, floors, larger classroom and multiple restrooms.

The Discovery Museum was saddened to have to leave our Carson Block home of 14 years but due to eminent retrofit construction the tenants of the Carson Block Building including the Discovery Museum were given notice for relocation to be effective November 30, 2014.

The Discovery Museum is currently operating limited hours and programs free at a temporary location within the Jefferson Community Center at 1000 B Street Room 2 in Eureka, as well as camps at our Freshwater Property during President’s week February 16-20 and Spring Break April 13-17, with the rest of the museum's exhibits in storage awaiting a grand reopen this spring.
