Carman Gentile's recommendation for a statue of Mary, the Jewish mother to Jesus of Nazareth (Mailbox, Feb. 1) is brilliant.
Not only does Mary stand as a tribute to women's empowerment and is a statement against anti-semitism, as I have learned through my travels to Israel and other countries throughout the world, she is honored and respected by not only Christian but Muslim and other major world religions as well.
