Price: Free
rras.org
Join Redwood Region Audubon Society for a presentation entitled “Why Birds Matter - The Role of Ecosystem Services, Economics, and Ethics in Bird Conservation.” Speaker Dr. Matt Johnson, professor of wildlife management at Humboldt State University, specializes in the habitat ecology of birds. Many value birds for their recreational and aesthetic attributes, but few know that birds also supply “ecosystem services” that help sustain human life. Dr. Johnson will review how ecologists quantify the value of biodiversity and give examples involving birds. He also will recommend ways to advance bird conservation. Bring a mug for coffee and come fragrance free.
