Watch through my mother's eyes

I want to take the train
to Mexico with my mother
travel down that open space
where the tracks
follow the sea

I want to see horses
pounding hooves on the sand
I want to be still
while the horses and the train
thunder on

Watch through my mother's eyes
and the eyes of my
unconceived child
not through my own

I want to see horses
and that stretch where
the train follows the sea
I want to see Mexico again
it's been a hundred years
at least
