Thrifted!

One of the most memorable "souvenirs" I ever purchased on a vacation came from a charity thrift store — a $2 cookbook signed by Julia Child. As a regular thrift store patron, I often run into out-of-towners who are thrilled to find Humboldt County's wealth of thrift and vintage clothing stores — along with their reasonable prices.

Of course it's good to reuse and recycle, and many local operations are raising money for good causes, but for me it's the excitement of finding that vintage designer shirt or a brand new pressure cooker still in the box at a huge discount. At my house two's a pair and three's a collection. I can't pass up a piece of creamy white milk glass, often with a price tag of less than a dollar. What? You don't collect anything? It's never too late to start.

Here we thrifted finds for "the Hipster" who's into all things mid-century, "the Romantic" who loves surrounding herself with Grandma's collectibles and "the Athlete" who's out for adventure on land and sea.
