Two crime fiction writers from the San Francisco Bay Area will talk about books and writing at
Booklegger on Thursday, February 11, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Macavity Awardwinner Terry Shames, the author of five books in the Samuel Craddock series,
sets her tales in a small Texas town not unlike the one she grew up in. The Necessary Murder of
Nonie Blake came out in midJanuary to rave reviews.
Susan C Shea is the author of the popular Dani O’Rourke Mysteries. Each is set in San Francisco
and a different American locale. Mixed Up with Murder, the third in the series called “wickedly
funny” by reviewers, was released February 2.
Shames is the current president of the Norcal chapter of Sisters in Crime; Shea is the immediate
past president and is the secretary of the national Sisters in Crime organization. The two have been
writing partners since 2006, before either one had a publishing contract. They call themselves “the
country mouse and the city mouse” because their books reflect their own early experiences, which
show up in their fiction.
Both authors will talk about how they gravitated to writing crime fiction, how they address
common writing problems, and how they challenge themselves with each new book.
Their books will be for sale and refreshments will be served.
