Re: “Puff, Puff, Savings?

There you go, let's get the poor high. That way they won't care about going to the Doctor. That's pretty great! After all, a gram is better than a damn!

Re: “How to Not Fuck Up Humboldt

The best of all ways to stop F'ing up Humboldt, would be to move your weed farm to the Valley, where farmland and labor are cheap, water is available, and there are hiways to move your lovely unnecessary products to market. Also, get a trimming machine, or hire farm labor and PAY them by paycheck, deducting taxes, of course. Meanwhile, stop building greenhouses, using poison, burning diesel day and night, and stop driving those pickups to town! Encourage everyone to STOP SMOKING METH and QUIT SHOOTING SMACK! Gee, THAT would un-fuck Humboldt pretty soon!

Re: “So You Want to Start/Stop Smoking Weed

Quit smoking that dope! It does nothing for you! If you want to get no place, and be nothing
then keep on getting high! Taking drugs in general will ruin your whole life, and, can end it entirely. Pot is THE gateway drug. It is NOT medicine. It makes you stupid and paranoid, and not much else.

Re: “Humboldt After Trump

Very comical. Humboldt County is still the best part of Northern CA.

Re: “Better Than Status Quo, Prop 64 Protects Us All

The main point is that cannabis has been illegal about 40 years too long. Cannabis should be grown on farmland, by businesspersons, freely traded, widely available, cheap, and taxed. Anyone wishing to grow their own, should be able to do so.
Prohibition has fostered so many local problems, and crimes against persons and the environment, which escalate every year in severity, in a county ill equipped and underfunded to deal with ANY social issue, crime, drugs or mental health.
Legal weed will cause some economic shock, but the quality of Humboldt weed and the cache of our boutique pot will not be reduced. The products of our county, with local control and compliance, could enjoy worldwide status and distribution. The Humboldt brand will continue to set the standard, our growers will be respected, and our identity will not be challenged by anyone, anywhere. Legalization will put pride in your product, while filtering out the pirates. The end result will be to legitimize your services and products, and put them permanently into the actual economy. The value is there, develop the market! Go forward without fear!

Re: “Closed

I am sad to see another unintelligible rant from the chronically depressed, sick and stoned correspondent chronicling the mournful, sad decay in Goobsterdam. Right up the street from the disgusting veteran's hall, which should have been torn down decades ago, is the reprehensible Jerold Phelps Hospital-like structure, which should be closed and have an orange fence erected around it!
Goobsterdam is nothing more than a dead town inhabited by pot farmers, and operated by the remaining businessmen who moved out long ago. This little burg has nothing, is nothing, and probably will never recover. Even Cedarville and Portola and Hoopa have better medical facilities! Goobsterdam has had nothing new built in the last 50 years, with the possible exception of the Motels-which have become drug supermarkets and where no thinking person would stay...
The funniest part is that Goobsterdam is always whining about needing help! The folks in this town hate outsiders vehemently, and Goobstedam is one of the most provincial, xenophobic, paranoid and hostile places I have ever been. If it wasn't so crazy there, I would call it a small hole containing extreme conservatism. They paint themselves as hippies but they are really Republicans! All the folks there want is for you to come and spend some money (CASH ONLY!) and then leave.
John, your essay says to me "burn down the Veteran's Hall and Humboldt County will have to build us a new one". This is a dangerous viewpoint, but typical of the thinking of the disabled pot growers in Humboldt County.
Come to think of it, Garberville is a less than attractive nuisance, and the whole place should just have the orange-fence treatment that it is famous for.
