Re: “The China Connection

These 'comments' are sufficiently specious as to be laughable...if we weren't in Humboldt County where frowns are as prolific as in Finland. I'm not speaking about Arcata, of course, where the sun never sets and life is indeed a bowl of cherries, unlike China, which fortunately is able to produce enough students [albeit by way of Hong Kong and the TOEFL 'chop shop'...do almost half of Chinese students entering the US actually cheat to get in? I hope that is an overstated statistic...] to fill the hallowed HSU halls since the 'Caucasians' [Chinese were in the Caucasus long before we were, by the way...] choose to go elsewhere due to issues such as rocketing tuition and accreditation concerns. So what exactly does all of that have to do with Chinese sweat labor? There, I mentioned it for you. It's out in the public. And without all of your help it no doubt would have remained a secret indefinitely. So, to reiterate...what exactly is your point? Thanks for the article and my apologies for the fellow commenters who seem to be replying to the wrong forum! By the way, the conditions for workers in factories in Cambodia makes the scene in rural China seem like working at Wildberries for minimum wage. Draw your own conclusions.
