Mr.Winkler's piece is a hucksters dream. It was so glibly written that the sentences are lighter than air with no substance or solidity. No mention of any of the many negatives, just an assurance that any negatives there might be can be adequately dealt with. The fire danger which is a large issue w/ turbines. the permanence of the construction that once built can never be removed even though turbines have a short life, the request by the Wiyot Tribe that their use of these ridges as a prayer site and the only overlook on their traditional lands be respected and left alone, the noise factor and more are as nothing in Winklers world.It is my understanding that the electricity from these turbine were never intended for Humboldt but now, because people protested there are negotiations to keep some of the electricity here. Mendocino was to get the electricity because they have refused to build wind turbines because of the many negatives. Didn't mention that either, did ya Winkler?

Wonderfully writ piece,Greg King. I am disgusted and disappointed in Wilsons views on this subject. You mention that the sites and the turbines themselves once in the ground are there forever but with that in mind it also must be noted that the life of those turbines is a short one of 25-30 years after which their ugliness remains and the land they are on will never be able to recover.This is a bad deal and should not happen. Sadly our idiot in Washington has just declared that he wishes to lay sanctions on Chinese solar panels and parts for solar panels which would up the cost of panels here significantly because the idiot in charge does not seem to grasp the fact that his sanctions hurt us as much if not more than the countries on whom the sanctions are laid. If you have not seen my editorial on this subject I would be glad to send it to you. I think you may have since a chunk of your statement here has a bunch of stats that are in my editorial. Thank you for writing this.

Dr. Cutcha Risling Baldy, I thank you first for the truth that needs to be heard, but also for the beautifully crafted manner in which you laid out the truth. You obviously hit a sore spot for a couple of readers who ran to their denial cache and attacked you for telling such a terrible truth but, sadly, that's life in America.I will hope to see more from you.

I have so much admiration for these 3 wonderful people, first for being brave and strong enough to do all they had to do to fully become who they knew they were and then to stand up and speak their hearts. Bravo, and may you each have the life you want and so deserve.

I was slammed with the name Anthony Sanger when I started to read this letter. I knew, or suspected, that something had happened to Anthony because it has been so long since I've seen him or heard from him. I now know that the worst that I had feared is what has happened. I've known Anthony for many years. It was a joy to go to the Jam when Anthony was on keyboard. He truly was a genius. I've never heard anyone play that piano like he could. It was a small upright and often he would get so out there that someone would have to grab the piano because it was about to flip over and hit the floor. I spent many, many hours with him when he went into a manic phase because he had decided he didn't need the Bipolar meds anymore. He lost everything as a result of the manic phases, his little house, his wife, his son, everything. I can't do justice to how tragic it was and what it was like when he came down and was hit by all he'd lost. This mad, brilliant piano player who had a life of loses and struggle that is beyond heartbreaking. Beyond his pills there was no help for him. He ended up in scuzzy living situations in Eureka and sometimes with no roof over his head. I'd run into him pulling his piano behind him and I would try to find a way to help but rarely could do much. Thank you, Ellen, for at least giving me an ending, though not the one I would have wished for. I'd love to know more if you'd ever care to share.

In addition to what I said above I would like to add that the turbines will use 24,000 gallons of oil/year for their life. The creation of the sites and the erection of the turbines combined w/ the oil usage will be at a carbon cost that far exceeds the carbon gain from the turbines. Winkler claims expertise in these issues but must have forgotten to mention that. Why RCEA has not considered that is something they should have to answer for.
