Surreal Art Show Reception

Kit Diotima is the featured artist for the month of May at The Jam on 915 H St in Arcata, with a reception during the May 12 Arts Arcata featuring DJ Anya. Kit uses photo maniuplation to create surreal, fairy worlds, candylands, and expressionistic landscapes. Kit feels like she is uncovering a hidden, colorful, mystical world that is already there, just beyond our normal range of vision. As a trans woman, Kit has a special view on gender in our society, how strong feminine traits are often depicted as monstrous, but Kit reclaims these female monsters, considering herself a butterflywitch transforming herself, and creating transformative art. By uncovering the parts of our world occupied by fairies, witches, pixies and gorgons, Kit’s artwork is a vibrant, eerie, enchanting, psychedelic wonderland. DJ Anya plays the soundtrack for Kit Diotima's colorful, surreal, eerie, psychedelic fairy worlds, candylands, & expressionistic landscapes
