Re: “Round 'em up

I am surprised with Krause's comment here on this, because my understanding is that when parties enter mediation, it is agreed that discussions and agreements remain confidential.

Re: “California to Close 70 State Parks (Updated)

There are other articles about this topic. I have read that closures wont happen until summer 2012.

If the parks close, they will be periodically maintained, but there will be no (legal) public access.

This is just going to create havens for outdoor growers and outdoor living.

Can the Feds sue the State for harboring terrorists if a terrorist lives in any of the closed parks?!?

I would hope that the budget situation would improve and the parks will eventually reopen in several years.

Re: “Yurok Tribe Doubles Land Base

whatevs we all know the tribes dont have fishing regs, they take as much as they want, as i see it this just means more lands for peeps to party, fish, and spotlight hunt from their trucks.

and what does this do for monitoring? green diamond was goin broke with all the regs, but does this mean that the state & feds wont have any right to enforce ceqa, nepa, etc?

Re: “Tom Abate Joins NCJ Staff; New Editor is SF Chron Alum

I thought it was funny reading his comment here on the NCJ web site, saying please don't be critical of me, yet. That is an open invitation to be just that, and even more than we would have without him asking us not to.

Dude, who is on the blogthing at 3 in the morning anyway?

"Comment / By tom abate / Jan. 27, 2:51 a.m.

As long as I’ve known Rick Levin this is the first time he has ever called me “Mr Abate.” Thanks. That said I wish to distance myself from any criticism, reproach or even any public discussion of the new editorial lineup...."

Re: “Genesis of a Gripe

Hi, I am not sure why there is a page 2 to this story. Anyway, I think that people are hesitant because there aren't 100 North Coast of California's, and the land is very valuable. It is beautiful here. People enjoy that. I do agree that a place that is dynamic is great! And that there are plenty of dynamic people here! And that 3500 manufacturing jobs would be really great, but I am not sure how many factories I would really want here. The air, land, waters, everything here is not available in the valleys. There is vast land of nothing throughout California, and it is unfortunate that we can't get more jobs here?
