Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Southern Humboldt Bird Walk

When: Sat., March 24, 8:30 a.m. 2018
Phone: 923-7227
Redwood Region Audubon Society will hold its bird walk at the Southern Humboldt Community Park in Garberville. The walk begins at Tooby Park. Take Sprowl Creek Road for 1 mile and just past the park entryway (McKee Lane) you'll see the Tooby parking lot which is well signed and is on the right. We spend 20 to 30 minutes observing the Eel River which is just below Tooby. We then cross the road and enter the Community Park (McKee Lane) and slowly work our way towards the farm house, stables and barn. If you're late you can easily catch up by walking towards the barn! The walk is an easy 2 to 3 hour walk.We generally have some extra binoculars. Organic shade grown (bird friendly) coffee is usually provided. No dogs please. There are 2 "porta potties" on the trail. For information call Ann at 923-7227. Heavy rain cancels.
