Showing of Documentary "Trapped"

“Trapped” chronicles the recent forced closures of women’s health clinics in southern states. The title stems from the TRAP (Targeted Regulations of Abortion Providers) laws, state legislative measures intended to circumvent federal law by burdening clinics with expensive and unneeded requirements like meeting the same standards as full surgical centers or requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. The AMA has argued that TRAP laws are medically unnecessary. “Trapped” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016 and was awarded a special jury Social Impact prize. The 80-minute film will be followed by discussion.
