HSU’s Politics Department presents the 13th Victor T. Schaub Memorial Lecture on Local Politics “Sanctuary Cities: What are the Issues?” with speakers Kathleen Lee and Julie Fulkerson.
A sanctuary city is one that’s adopted a policy of protecting unauthorized immigrants by not prosecuting them for violating federal immigration laws and by ensuring that all residents have access to city services, regardless of immigration status. The event will explore constitutional questions and conflicts dating to the Pre Civil War era, as well as threats by the Trump Administration to strip federal funding from self-declared sanctuary cities.
