Rhody Potluck and Mini Show

The peak of our north coast rhododendron bloom time is usually mid-to-late April, but there are wonderful blooms that reach their peak later, as in now, and they deserve their time in a spotlight. The Thursday, May 26, meeting of the Eureka Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, held at the Eureka Woman's Club, will provide that moment with a mini-show. Members of the group as well as members in our area communities are invited to bring these special bloomers (technically called trusses) to enter into the show. Participants don't have to know the names of the flowers. Members will help with filling out the entry ticket that hangs on the display bottle. (No entry fees.) The Eureka Woman's Club is located at 1531 J St. The potluck dinner will start at 6 p.m., the show at 7. If there are any community members who would like to participate in the potluck, please give a call to 443-1291 so that adequate seating and buffet table space is provided. For those who want to bring a bloom or blooms to share (but not participate in the potluck), come at 6:45 to get the blooms in the right spot on the correct table.....and enjoy some refreshments and camaraderie.
