Although I agree there is a nursing shortage there is also a shortage of other medical professionals. Nurses are what people see the most and are most often in the news, but there are a growing shortage of Clinical Lab Scientists ( the people who do your lab tests), respiratory therapists,radiologists, ultrasound, etc... Why is there no story on these people who are just as important as nurses. If you do not have lab, respiratory, and radiology, no amount of nurses will keep the hospital going. Lets quite reporting on just one group and focus on all parties involved in healthcare who are encountering a more severe shortage than the nurses.
On another note, you did not bring up the 2-3 year waiting list to get into the nursing program. People are completing their prerequisites to get into the nursing program and find that they must wait years before they can actually get into the nursing program. If there is such a serious shortage why the wait?
