Lee Blessing’s engrossing Going to St. Ives returns to Redwood Curtain Theatre through the magic of Zoom. Going to St. Ives was originally performed at Redwood Curtain Theatre in 2015, but now you can relive the magic of this show again by tuning into a One-Night Only Zoom performance of the play with the original cast. May N’Kame, the mother of an African dictator, travels to England to see Dr. Cora Gage about medical treatment for her failing eyesight. Dr. Gage uses the consultation as an opportunity to raise the issue of the imprisonment of some of her colleagues. Meanwhile, Mrs. N’Kame’s true motive in visiting the doctor leads to a fierce and fascinating discourse on morality and motherhood. Lee Blessing’s Going to St. Ives is the story of two impressive women brought together by that which is personal and divided by that which is political, as both seek to accomplish the greatest good.
