Re: “Security National Announces 49 Layoffs [Corrected]

yes, Rose, god forbid the Journal should report on a press release put out by Security National, how terrible.

Re: “Humboldt, the 45th Most Healthy County in the State

Oh, I see, so all we need is MORE MONEY and we'd all be so much healthier! Or...maybe there are other ideas besides redistributing wealth, such as GOOD PLANNING. Just a thought!

Re: “Hello, Humboldt County

Now this I'm looking forward to: "the editor in a community which I love and where my work, as a moderator of the public forum, is a force for good." Too many reporters see their job as ferreting out any hint of controversy and magnifying it beyond reason. This is not a force for good, though it may be entertaining to some. What this community needs is more investigative reporting, less "he-said-she-said" summaries. Welcome back, Tom!! Looking forward to the new Journal. It's been good so far, and sounds like it's going to get better!

Re: “Southern Discomfort

But how can you live in a place dominated by people who say on the one hand, we shouldn't have to follow the rule of law or pay our fair share of taxes but then also demand police protection for outlaws? Seems like a quandary...

Re: “HSU Professor Killed Near Willits

So sad. He was a great teacher, in a difficult subject. Never made a biology student feel bad for not getting had. Great sense of humor. Last time I saw him he was coming out of the water from surfing with a pack of kids at Moonstone Beach. Goddammit.

Re: “Native American Sovereignty FTW

cool! The Menominee Tribe in Wisconsin also has license plates. For some reason, the Yurok Tribe drives vehicles with US Govt plates. Go figure. It's complicated.
