Re: “'Operation Southern Sweep'

Continuing to set marijuana as an enforcement priority, compared to going after the manufacturing of far more dangerous and debilitation substances such as meth, or focusing on other classes of crime and public safety, does seem to be more of the same Suits vs. Sandals culture war that's been going on since the 60s. Still, I'm not so sure living next to some of these bathtub horticultural Einsteins that have been causing all the conflagrations and oil-extraction propane explosions of late is as sublime as some would hold. Until the laws change, as long as the investigations and search & seisures are being conducted legally (unlike, say, Operation Green sweep back in 1990), I really can't see a reason to cry foul too loud. "Chickens coming home to roost" and all that...

Re: “LA Times Story

Ms. Simpson's comments are quite intriging, especially in making a distinction between medical and commercial operations. Could this be the start of the feds gearing up for a new boss (and programmatic shift away from medical marijuana-related enforcement) come next January?

Re: “Bust in Sunny Brae

Hank,

Ownership of the subject property is a matter of public record. In posting it I, in no way, sought to libelously imply the Elkins have any direct involvement in the apparent grow there, as contrasted with, say, the current occupants, whomever they may be. I do find it intersting that the situation matches what Kevin H and other have observed about the cat's-away-mice-aplay aspect of rental houses and absentee landlords, notwithstanding that purportedly is a property management firm involved.

Re: “Bust in Sunny Brae

What came immediately to mind for me was the former program director and current newsperson at a certain Garberville-based environmental org and radio station, respectively... Then again, it is a relatively common surname, the 1179th.

Re: “Bust in Sunny Brae

Ownership of 1658 Virginia Way is vested to Robert S and Miu-Ling Elkins, who appear to be out-of-the area landlords (per RealQuest, the tax bills go c/o: Humboldt Property Mgmt)...
Elkins, Elkins, hmmm... where have I heard that name before?

Re: “MEGA EXCLUSIVE WEB EXTRA: The Unexpurgated Heraldo-Dandy Papers

So, if "the big bust" does not go down starting tomorrow as decreed by Senor H, we still won't have the true identity of the rumormonger at which to hurl our salmonella-tainted tomatoes?
